Sharon Kim
Professor of Sociology - California State University
Sharon Kim is a Professor of Sociology at California State University, Fullerton, where she researches the intersections of race, religion, and Asian American identity. She is the author of A Faith of Our Own, which examines the development and growth of hybrid worship spaces among second-generation Korean Americans.
Since 1995, Sharon and her husband, David Kim, have pastored The Garden Church in Chatsworth, CA. Sharon is the founder of Itara Studio, a nonprofit that empowers women survivors of the Rwandan genocide by providing them with opportunities to create products that support their families and communities. She also founded and serves as the executive director of Garden Learning Center, a program that empowers underserved youth to realize their God-given potential through quality academic support in a nurturing environment.
Sharon is the mother of two adult sons, Daniel and Joel. She has a passion for photography and is an award-winning landscape photographer.
